For a good physical and mental balance, it is important to do sports on a regular basis. But it turns out that some sports activities are more dangerous than others.
1. Base jumping
Extreme sports enthusiasts practice base jumping to enjoy the joys of freefall. In France, there are about 300 regular practit
ioners. According to a survey carried out in 2011 by National Geographic, a dozen sportsmen and women die every year throughout the world.
2. Speleological diving
Decompression is the main danger divers are wary of. But the inability to surface instantaneously, darkness and strong currents can also cause death.
3. Mountaineering
High mountain climbing is one of the most dangerous sports in the world. Experienced or amateur, the practitioner is not able to master all the natural disasters that can occur. This is why it is never recommended to practice this off-piste activity.
4. Extreme Skiing
Skiing on steep slopes is a discipline similar to ski touring, but the slopes to be climbed are considerably more technical, with a difference in altitude of more than 50°. If you fall, there is little chance you will survive.
5. Speed riding
Speed riding consists in alternating gliding and paragliding on a relief to appreciate the sensation of speed. But by descending into narrower corridors where the paraglider wing barely passes, the sportsman verges on danger. To be so close to the relief, piloting errors can be fatal.
6. Cheerleading
If the cheerleaders throw themselves into the air, they risk hitting the ground violently. Cheerleaders are considered to be the "athletes most at risk of injury".
7. Hurling
This Irish team sport is played with a stick and a ball. The goalkeeper can take the balls to the head or other fragile parts of the body, such as the testicles.
8. Wingsuit Flying
A variant of skydiving, Wingsuit consists of jumping from a cliff or an airplane. This sport is very technical and poor control can lead to death.
9. Motocross
An extreme sport practiced on rough terrain, motocross is one of the activities that can cause fatal falls.
10. Rugby
With the types of tackles during a game, it is obvious that this sport is included in the most dangerous activities in the world. Rugby is the sport with the highest average number of injuries per player.
